Coreen’s work leans toward a realistic vision. She is constantly experimenting to incorporate reality into her pieces through “thread painting”.
Coreen is a member of several art galleries, SAQA, FAN, CQA, and the Federation of Canadian artists.
Over the last 20 years, as a highly regarded Fibre Artist and mentor, she has taught her techniques extensively on Vancouver Island, as well as across Canada and she has judged many shows on Vancouver Island.
Coreen’s pieces are displayed throughout North America, won numerous major awards, and has been juried into many Fibre art shows, including “Best of Country” at the World Competition.
She was chosen to exhibit at the Shelbourne Museum in 2008, as well as one of 40 Canadian Top fibre artists represented in a show in Paducah, Kentucky.
She has many pieces in private collections. Her Landscape commissions include 5 large landscape pieces for the Anglican Church in Lantzville, B.C., a Treescape for the province of BC, as well a very large piece in 2022 for the City of Lacombe, Alberta.
StatementSunrise is a favourite time of day for me- I enjoy taking photos of this time of day and then transposing them into that feeling in Fibre Art, using fabrics and threadwork. The explosion of colour in the skies over Vancouver Island has often left me in awe. I strive to have this effect on those that view my work.
