Dennis Malkin

D Malkin is a graduate of the Emily Carr University of Art and Design back when it was simply called an art school. He really started learning his skills as a carpenter in the CBC stage shop building sets for TV specials. He's a graduate of two worlds fairs, in Vancouver and in Brisbane, Australia then later back in Vancouver for the 2010 Olympics and in all of those cases, he was called upon to design and build all kinds of crazy and amazing things. He carries on today with explorations of his own, solving challenging technical problems to assemble his sculptural poems.

With this work I'm developing a language of form using shape geometries to represent human and stylized naturalistic icons. This is all artistic bafflegab to say that a circle or a square can represent an eye, a line or an inverted T can represent a nose.
