Leslie Mobbs

Leslie Mobbs lives in Cedar-by-the-Sea and has been practicing printmaking since 2019, though he has been thinking about it for a long time.

Printmaking is a way of seeing and responding to what surrounds me in Cedar-by-the-Sea: the garden, the neighbourhood, the sea and forest.

The reduction linoleum block relief printing method uses one or more pieces of linoleum that are then gradually reduced by carving, registered to ensure alignment of the blocks and development of the image, and printed to make a multi-coloured print.

I work primarily by hand without a press and in small editions with environmentally safe materials such as AKUA inks. I am a part of the Printmakers of the Salish Sea collective and affiliated with the Arts Council of Ladysmith Print Studio and Bluewave Printmakers.
