This piece evolved over the course of my 60th and 61st year as I like many others ,spent time reflecting on one’s life during the Covid epidemic. This work is an homage to the famous series of lithographs by Robert Rauschenberg produced close to the year of my own birth. I constructed a backdrop of photocopies from black and white prints of myself and family members which were taken by my father, myself and others at various stages in my life. I then produced a variety of digital photographs of the combined images and layered them with a larger colour self portrait. It is intended to be a bit fuzzy and dreamy as often our recollections of the past are unclear. It is a very personal work, which demands the viewer look closely at the piece to see the details, intricacies and “snap shots” of a life so far... In turn I hope it may trigger others to reflect on there own milestones.
