Bonnie Schnitter

For over 50 years Bonnie has been painting and creating art. Her favourite mediums are acrylic and water colours. Bonnie lives in Nanaimo, BC and gets inspiration from the beautiful environment. She loves to explore the beaches on the island and watch the birds in her backyard and in the ponds nearby. “I love taking photographs wherever I go and often use my photos for my subjects in my paintings. It gives me such pleasure to make people smile, so my crow art often has a humorous side to it.”

From a very young age I remember always drawing and creating. In school I took every art course available such as clay, painting, drawing, ink, and calligraphy. For over 20 years I used watercolours as my main medium simply because they don’t take up much space and allowed easy cleanup.   After my children finished school and left home, I discovered acrylics and I found my passion. I love their flexibility, vibrant pigments and versatility of surfaces to paint on. Living on Vancouver Island, with all its beauty, I found my perfect studio.
